Unser 2. Stopp auf unserer Tour war die Stadt Lüneburg. Was ich bislang zu Lüneburg wusste? Äh, wenn ich ganz ehrlich bin, rein gar nichts, außer das die Stadt von mir aus gesehen irgendwo im Norden liegt, dass die Lüneburger Heide dort auch sein muss und das war es dann auch schon. - Ich weiß, sehr erbärmlich.

Die Stadt Lüneburg hat uns schnell fasziniert, denn sie hat auch eine ganz spannende Geschichte. Den meisten Menschen wird die Stadt aus der Fernsehserie "Rote Rosen" bekannt sein. Für mich, die im Prinzip nie den Fernseher an hat ein Buch mit 7 Siegeln...

Lüneburg ist eine Salz- und Hansestadt. Und genau hier habe ich 2x hinhören müssen. Lüneburg und eine Hansestadt? Klar. Aber es war tatsächlich so, durch den Salzabbau unter dem Kalkberg wurde Lüneburg zu einer Hansestadt und war insgesamt 25x Gastgeber des Hansetags...

Aber ich möchte jetzt nicht weiter mit Geschichtsunterricht langweilen. Ich lasse lieber die Bilder sprechen...

Our 2nd stop on our tour was the city of Lüneburg. What did I know about Lüneburg so far? Uh, if I'm honest, nothing at all, except that the city is somewhere in the north, that the Lüneburg Heath must be there and that's it. - I know, very pathetic.

The city of Lüneburg quickly fascinated us, because it also has a very exciting history. Most people will know the city from the television series "Rote Rosen". For me, who in principle never turns on the television, there is a book with 7 seals...

Lüneburg is a salt and hanseatic city. And exactly here I had to listen twice. Lüneburg and a hanseatic city? Sure. But it was really like that, because of the salt mining under the limestone mountain, Lüneburg became a hanseatic city and was host of the Hanseatic Convention 25 times...

But I don't want to bore you with history lessons. I rather let the pictures speak for themselves...

Auf dem Kalkberg hat man eine unglaublich schöne Aussicht über die Stadt Lüneburg.

If you like to take a little walk trough town and don't mind some steps, walk up to the top of the Kalkberg - you have an amazing view from there.

Im Salzmuseum lernt man so einiges über die Salzherstellung in Lüneburg und auch was es mit der Hansestadt, der Gründung der Stadt und dem Hansetag so auf sich hat. Ein Besuch lohnt sich auf alle Fälle.

In the Salt Museum you can learn a lot about the salt production in Lüneburg and also about the Hanseatic city, the foundation of the city and the Hanseatic Day. A visit is worthwhile in any case.

Und dann ist der Besuch im Wasserturm von Lüneburg ein absolutes Muss. Eine tolle Aussicht kann man von oben genießen.

You also have to make a stop at the old water tower. You have a great view from there...

... if you don't mind walking down many, many stairs.
